You may work with program's white background template by starting new project with white background template.

Templates are okay for font size, colors etc. and also can be used to plot the project . What do you want to do exactly?

You may use white template for your requesting. You need to plot your drawings with 1/50 scale for plans, 1/20 scale for details. You will select A1 or A0 paper size on drawing properties.
